If you are one of the reflexive haters or conspiracy theorists who don’t believe Harry Reid had his face bashed in by an exercise band, even though there is not a scintilla of evidence to say otherwise, here are the top 10 more plausible suspects than castoffs from "The Sopranos" -- these people actually had motives:
Chuck Schumer
David and Charles Koch
Mitt Romney
Ex-Review-Journal executives Sherm Frederick and Tom Mitchell
Alan Greenspan
George W. Bush
Rep. Dina Titus
Sen. Dean Heller...
In Las Vegas, where theoretically there is a contested mayoral race, just under 15,000 people have voted through Sunday.
That's nine days of early voting, and turnout is at 6 percent. People clearly cannot contain their excitement at the Carolyn Goodman/Stavros Anthony matchup.
Alas, the scheduled "Ralston Live" debate on Friday had to be canceled because of Harry Reid's retirement announcement. And Team Goodman delcined to do it tonight, even though that date was her campaign's original choice...
When Michele Fiore hosts her pals from Bundyville on Tuesday, they will be there for a bill that is patently unconstitutional.
That's the finding, attached here, of a Legislative Counsel Bureau opinion on AB 408, which is some lame attempt to TAKE BACK OUR LANDS.
The opinion explains that, contrary to what federal scofflaws Fiore and Bundy may think, the law does matter. To wit:
Based upon these authorities, it clear that Congressional power to prescribe rules and regulations concerning public...
This is what happens when you go see the faithful and give them red, anti-taxing meat: You might make the governor mad.
Remember when Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske claimed she was neutral on the Sandoval Business License Fee plan? No more.
After suggesting she has no position, Cegavske provided some harsh language for those who would tax business. This is what the secreatry of state told the state Republican Party central committee (Correction: Nevada Federation of GOP Women) in Carson...
Their own polling shows he is fine. But Gov. Brian Sandoval and his men are taking no chances with the recall effort directed at Speaker John Hambrick.
A mail piece, probably not the last, arrived in Hambrick's district this week, making him sound like Sam Rayburn. School refromer. Sex traffic killer. Special interest antagonist.
Standard stuff. The piece, paid for by Team Sandoval's Nevada Jobs PAC, also ties the recall effort to some of those being investigated by Metro in a corruption case,...
MORE, 6:55 PM:
Chamber spokeswoman Cara Clarke flatly contradicted the Tax Foundation rep who told me (see below) that the report was not commissioned. "We had it commissioned," she told me, adding the group has asked the foundation to analyze all the proposals.
Get your stories straight, people!
UPDATED, 6:45 PM:
The chamber begs for forgiveness:
"The leadership of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce apologizes to Governor Sandoval for the tone and tenor of the recent analysis issued by...
The Cliven Bundy Gang is planning a celebration of the one-year anniversary of the botched BLM raid on the rancher who owes the federal government a fortune in grazing fees.
The CBG has even invited Clark County commissioners to what they are calling the "Bundy Ranch Freedom Reunion" on April 10-11. The invite, attached here, is signed "We the People of the Sovereign State of Nevada," and the flyer has all kinds of sovereign state rhetoric.
The flyer talks about the original colonies and the "...
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen have sent a letter to Nevada lawmakers expressing general support for a collective bargaining reform bill that has infuriated public employee unions.
The two mayors straddle a fine line in the letter, obviously embracing some of the key reforms but inisisting they don't want to "throw the baby out with the bathwater." Goodman is in the middle of a re-election campaign -- she is favored, but probably does not want to stir up unions...
UPDATED, 8:30, 3/25/15:
Now they have chartered buses and have folks coming in from Vegas and Phoenix. (No money for grazing fees, as one wag observed, but cash for charters.) The Bundy clan sent out another missive Wednesday, yelling about the measure to take control of federal lands, which may not even be legal: THE BILL IS THE #1 MOST PUBLICLY SUPPORTED BILL IN THE NEVADA LEGISlATURE, BUT THE OPPOSITION IS INCREASING.
Oh? It is?
Here's the latest from son of Cliven, who says the Bundyites...
