In two contributions during the last 10 days, Las Vegas Sands boss Sheldon Adelson gave Gov. Brian Sandoval a total of $300,000 for his political action committee. Most of the money the governor raised was then transferred to the Nevada Jobs Coalition, run by Sandoval's consultants and the vehicle for the third-party spending in what looks like a successful attempt to take over the state Senate. Sandoval also took $50,000 each from Wynn Resorts, SLS and Resorts World, as well as $25,000 from...
UPDATE, 12:45 PM, 10/30: While my producer, Dana Gentry, obtained quite a few documents from UNLV that revealed the university in damage-control mode and pressured by gamers, the university withheld many under the flimsy "Executive/Deliberative Process Exemption." That is just ludicrous based on what UNLV released, which also could have fallen under whatever deliberations -- the euphemism for damage control -- took place. Many emails were included between scrambling flacks bragging about "sound...

Steven Horsford goes up against Cresent Hardy with a Tea Party All-Star team; and the tax lady, Carole Vilardo, takes on the DEEPLY FLAWED margin tax, which could lose by a lot.
Imagine a legislative session that can’t even get started because leadership is in limbo and not all legislators are deemed to be…legislators. This is not a fevered pundit’s imagination. And while the election isn’t over yet, the possibilities are, alas, virtually endless. I have already shown you that the Assembly, now 27-15 to the Democrats, could go Republican or 21-21. And there also are now two Democratic candidates who have been declared ineligible – Jake Holder and Meghan Smith, both in...
The precursor to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign in THE MOST IMPORTANT STATE IN THE NATION has filed as a political action committee in Nevada. The filing last week comes as Ready for Hillary staffers have been trying help Democrats this cycle here and elsewhere. The group has tabbed veteran operative Megan Jones, a former Harry Reid aide, as its local agent. The goal: "To accept contributions and make expenditures supporting or opposing Nevada candidates." Uh huh. It says one thing to me: #...
