WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY REPORT
This week:
1. Smartest/dumbest moves of the week?
2. It's almost three weeks old -- any new thoughts on the Legislature? leaders? Non-leaders? Up and comers? Disappointments? Bills/issues to watch? Is it really THIS boring? Anything percolating?
3. Any long-term fallout from:
Red Rock vote
Heller and town halls/liberal group pounding
Sessions coming for pot
Lots of early kudos for the freshman class, especially Cancela, Tolles, Brooks and Yeager. But I am much more...
WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY REPORT
This week:
1. Your take on the Laxalt/Burnett story? Will there be fallout? Thoughts in general?
2. After two weeks of Session '17, what are your thoughts? Too early? Anything shaping up already? leadership -- yes or no?
Forgot to include Smartest/Dumbest Moves in the questions this week (one person remembered anyhow!) So I win dumbest move by a landslide with my addled memory. Good stuff and smart viewpoints on both of the main questions. To wit:
►Succinct, brutal...

Some great stuff from my insiders, esepcially on Week One, showing (again) why this feature is such a good idea. They KNOW what's happening. Near-unanimous bad...
WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY REPORT
This week:
1. Smartest/dumbest moves of the week?
2. Is there really any fallout in the long run for Dean Heller's votes on the controversial Cabinet picks? Or is it much more likely they will be forgotten by next year, if not next month?

Frierson-Ford...

3. Any fallout from Sandoval taking on Trump on wall and Medicaid?
Interesting split among the insiders on the Michael Roberson/ESAs line in the sand. And interesting how a few insiders think Roberson was smart to bring Dan Muth in, but others feel the same way that I do about the dangers of allowing Chuck Burdish inside his tent. And lots more interesting stuff:
►Ha: Energy choice will be...

WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY REPORT
This week:
1. State of the State predictions
2. Smartest/dumbest moves of the week
Lots of great stuff from my insiders, as usual, on the State of the State. Mor einside info than anywhere else. Learn more about where the governor is as his last State of the State looms in The Nevada Independent on Tuesday.
Some other gems from my insiders:
►Gubernatorial candidate? First an ad campaign for office and this: Smartest: Laxalt came out with a Spanish video this week....
A month after the election, House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, riding one of his longtime hobbyhorses, wrote to Assembly Speaker-in-Waiting Jason Frierson, asking him to expound on his experiences with unfunded mandates to the states from the federal government.
I don't think Frierson gave him the answer he was looking for.
In a forceful, detailed letter, Frierson went well beyond what Chaffetz had asked and listed "five critical federal issues that are cause for grave concern...

EXCLUSIVE!!!!!!!!!! (Really, it's exciting)
I chatted this morning with Steve...
One week after Attorney General Adam Laxalt declared a new background checks law unenforceable, prominent leaders of the campaign to pass the initiative urged Gov. Brian Sandoval to "to urge the speedy and efficient implementation" of the statute.
Elaine Wynn and Jan Jones Blackhurst, co-chairs of the background checks campaign, also wrote to Laxalt, saying they are "are concerned that you have either overlooked or not explored solutions to implementing this law and have instead chosen simply...
