I missed the missive when it was sent toward the end of June, but Rep. Paul Ryan, a favorite bete noire brandished by Democrats to pound GOP congressional reps, wrote a letter to help Rep. Joe Heck raise money.
I obtained the letter this week and have posted it here. The language is typical over-the-top partisan stuff (Reid-Pelosi-Obama, liberal rubber stamp, evil cometh). But what's interesting is that Heck, who has voted for Ryan's budget plans, would tether himself even closer to a divisive...
School began today in Reno, Superintendent Pedro Martinez is back at work, but he's not letting go of his lawsuit against his bosses for breaching his contract.
Today, his lawyer filed a lengthy brief opposing the district's desire to have until mid-October to respond to his suit, saying 45 days is plenty. It's a pretty scathing document, and attached here.
The Speculation Machine is in overdrive with that land being graded in Reno, and Teslamania growing.
And now, the Reno Gazette-Journal's veteran Bill O'Driscoll has raised the possibility of a special session to provide Elon Musk with enough goodies to entice him to choose Nevada over the moonbeams being offered in California, where he lives.

In a motion filed in court, the RJ's parent, Stephens Media, chafes at Greenspun seeking "to walk away from the proceedings he improvidently started by...
Nancy Pelosi is in Vegas today.
Good morning, everyone. Great trip to New York City, dear Flashees, but happy (sorta) to be back. Had a memorable experience shooting two scenes for “Alpha House,” meeting some great people, including creator Garry Trudeau, executive producer Jonathan Alter and several actors, including the wonderful Matt Malloy and Haley Joel Osment (yes, THAT Haley Joel Osment). I’ll let you know when the episodes are released so you can see my Oscar-worthy performance.

Good morning, everyone. This morning’s Las Vegas Sun, print edition, has one local story on Page One that is days old, two national stories, and on the inside, no editorial, a bunch of nationally syndicated columns and some recycled Vegas, Inc., material. On a Wednesday! If this is the future of local journalism, I am going to throw myself into a Barrick mine pit.
Note: I will be traveling to New York City for a few days, so no promises on Morning Flashes for the rest of the week. I will not...
