The Las Vegas Review-Journal poll suggests state Sen. Mark Hutchison is crushing Assemblywoman Lucy Flores among Hispanics, that Republican candidates are destroying Democrats in Las Vegas, where Democrats have a 14 percentage point edge and that GOP state Sen. Barbara Cegavske is getting 42 percent of the African-American vote.
In other words, it makes no sense.
That doesn't mean Hutchison is behind -- he almost surely isn't. Or that Cegavske isn't running close to Treasurer Kate Marshall --...
Yes, we already knew Mark Hutchison and Brian Sandoval are the same person.
But when the state senator, who has a bad case of loving the governor, came under the withering gaze of the Las Vegas Review-Journal's editorial board, which may have presented him with its endorsement on the spot, the GOP lieutenant governor's hopeful uttered all kinds of nonsense that the crack journalists did not challenge.
To wit:
►"Hutchison talked as if he and Sandoval would enjoy a governing partnership with the...
When Bob Brown was at the Review-Journal, which crusaded to defeat him in 2010, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said to him, "I hope you got out of business."
Today, Reid said of Brown, "I have known Bob Brown for a long time and can personally testify to his commitment to serving the less fortunate of Nevada."
Brown was forced out of the RJ earlier this year. And now Reid loves him:

AG hopeful Ross Miller has a new ad touting his prosecutorial credentials, using local PR specialist Paula Yakubik's story.
Secretary of State Ross Miller has an 8 percentage point lead on Adam Laxalt in the race for attorney general while Treasurer Kate Marshall has a 2 percentage point lead, well within the margin of error, over state Sen. Barbara Cegasvke in the contest for secretary of state.
Those are the findings of a poll taken last month -- and before the heavy advertising began in the AG's race -- by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, a well-known Democratic polling firm. The survey was conducted for iVote, which is...
The Lucy Flores ad below starts in Reno on Thursday, statewide Monday.
She needs the name ID up North.
It's the subject most on people's minds --- education. As positive ads go, it's one of the better ones I've seen. (I might have had her say her name, though.)
In a buy expected to be about a million dollars, the Coalition to Defeat the Margin Tax Initiative will begin airing three ads Wednesday.
Polls indicate The Education Initiative, or Question 3 on the ballot, is winning. This could change that.
A tax on unprofitable companies. The money not guaranteed to go to education. Economic studies that show job losses.
Simple messages from regular folks, including a small businesswoman and a farmer. Pretty good stuff.
