UPDATE: The ACLU also has filed suit. It's attached here, too.   It's attached here. From my morning newsletter: The Patriot Majority, created to help Harry Reid retain his Senate seat in 2010, helped file the first one on Wednesday. And the ACLU is comign with one, too. The Democratic Party-connected suit has several causes of action, including an unconstitutional usurpation of constitutional power, a failure to provide a funding offset and, of course, problems with the so-called "description...
No one really knew who Cresent Hardy was until Wednesday. Now a lot of people know, in Nevada and nationally, and it may be remembered as the day the assemblyman's campaign for Congressional District Four ended. Hardy’s maladroit use of the word “segregation” in proximity to talking about employment discrimination in a Las Vegas Sun interview, followed by his throwback reference to welfare queens in an appearance before Hispanics in Politics provided media fodder and ensures he probably needs...
With Clark County knocking inactive voters off the rolls, the Democrats now have a 63,000-voter edge statewide over the GOP -- that's significant but 30,000 fewer than Election Day 2012 and about what the margin was on Election Day 2010. The Clark County cleanup resulted in about 29,000 Democrats being knocked off and about 15,000 Republicans -- the edge in Nevada's biggest county is now about 103,000 voters. Using the most current numbers in the other 16 counties, the overall statewide edge is...

As Democrats fret about their lack of a candidate in the state’s most important race, with Steve Sisolak’s inevitable decision not to run for governor, the question is: How did this happen? Let me rephrase: How did arguably the most formidable party apparatus in the country, the one that saved Harry Reid and propelled Barack Obama to two victories in Nevada, fail, especially since Gov. Brian Sandoval might challenge the majority leader in 2016? (I don’t think he will, but the pressure from the...
The scourge has come to Nevada and the two NRAs, neither of them guns, are aligned. A new radio ad paid for by the Nevada Resort Association and the Nevada Restauarant Association, is attached here. Big gamers, including MGM Resorts and Las Vegas Sands, have been sued by patent trolls, and many restaurants have been attacked in court for providing Wi-Fi through a router that has a broad use patent. The Main Street Patent Coalition, which has become active here, is also sponsoring ads in...
