Gov. Sunny goes dark: The Sandoval Secrecy proposal is an outrageous abuse of executive branch power
UPDATED BELOW WITH DEMOCRATIC PARTY STATEMENT, 4:46 PM
SECOND UPDATE WITH GOVERNOR'S STATEMENT, 5:44 PM
This is one of those times (there are many) that I wish Bill Raggio were still alive.
The legendary legislative master surely would have been apoplectic at the Sandoval administration’s attempts to keep private what are public agency budget requests – likely illegal, surely tone-deaf and definitely outrageous. I can see Raggio putting his arm around Gov. Not-so-Sunny, smiling and telling him...
Here's what Pat Hickey just put out:
Assembly Minority Leader Seeks Answers From Democrats opposing Voting Identification Improvements
Las Vegas, NV - Assembly Minority Leader Pat Hickey, R-Reno, is considering supporting Nevada's proposed state-issued drivers license for U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Deferred Action program but is confused by State Democrat Leaders who are opposing a similar program to improve the quality of Nevada's election process.
Democrat lawmakers are...
UPDATE: I HAVE ATTACHED FULL COMMITTEE LISTS HERE.
Here they are, adding to my post from Monday -- note Jason Frierson as THE up and coming sophomore, but Lucy Flores, not in good stead with the speaker, being given a shot as an assistant whip:
Assemblyman Paul Aizley will serve as Speaker Pro Tempore, while Assemblyman William Horne will serve as Majority Leader. Assemblyman Jason Frierson will serve as Assistant Majority Leader; Assemblyman David Bobzien will be Senior Majority Whip with...
Secretary of State Ross Miller may yet cause a national sensation – and it has nothing to do with his voter ID law.
Miller’s court case against Americans for Prosperity, a gigantic national conservative group founded by the Koch Brothers, could pull back the curtain on the organization’s donors. AFP spent a reported $33 million during Campaign 2012, according to Open Secrets. But, by federal law, as a 501C entity AFP does not have to disclose its donors.
To the Federal Election Commission, that...
So you say, site readers. And it wasn't close when I asked who would be first out of the blocks. Poor Kim Wallin -- beaten by Wayne Allyn Root!
There's a new poll up, too.

Ross Miller
21% (45 votes)
Danny Tarkanian

The Assembly will be organized very soon, I'm told, and here is some of what is coming (Note the snubbing of Lucy Flores, long on the outs with Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick):

Vice-chair: William Horne
Government Affairs

Vice-chair--Dina Neal

If you missed it, the Las Vegas Review-Journal today gave yours truly many column inches in its "Nevadan At Work" feature.
It's a testament to the reporter, Jennifer Robison, who did a straight-up piece, and the editor (Mike Hengel) and publisher (Bob Brown) for green-lighting it. (A far cry from the drefocked duo who used to run the place, one of whom actually took to the "comments" section.)
It is time to drop the quote marks around the "newspaper" now?
Far be it from lil ole me to disagree with Nate Silver, the polling guru who has gained even more celebrity this cycle because he correctly foretold President Obama's victory.
But Silver, in his latest post criticizes how internal numbers can often mislead the media -- and the candidate. Although that is true -- and certainly was in Mitt Romney's case, as Silver points out -- the real story here is one that is general to the media -- reporters should know which pollsters to trust -- and...
I delivered this rant on "Ralston Reports" on Friday -- the video is elsewhere on the site, a couple of minutes into the program:
April Mastroluca’s resignation from the Assembly reinforces what I have long thought about our Carson City Gang of 63:
It’s time to end the citizen Legislature in Nevada. And it’s time to end the biennial Legislature in Nevada.
If my sources are right, Mastroluca is leaving because she couldn’t afford to feed her family by sojourning in Carson City four months every...
