U.S. Chamber back up for Heck in Nevada

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce plans to go up with three new ads in Nevada this week -- two in English, one in Spanish -- to boost Rep. Joe Heck's candidacy against Harry Reid -- er, Catherine Cortez Masto.

The ads, which are all below, begin Tuesday in Las vegas and Reno. "For years, Harry Reid and Washington gridlock held Nevada back," the spots begin before touting Heck as The Greatest Congressman Ever.

"This is the only opportunity in America to increase our numbers," Chamber political boss Rob Engstrom told me in an interview, a reference ot Nevada as the only plausible GOP pickup. "This is where we have the symbolic and substantvie differences of replacing Leader Reid with a guy who is with us 90 percent of the time."

Engstrom told me he never reveals excat numbers, but said the buy, amplified by a digital component, is between a half-million and million dollars.

This is the second foray into the Senate race by the chamber, which was here in July with an initial ad buy. The Spnaish-language buy is interesting, too, especially in light of Cortez Masto's less than robust showing in a recent poll, only drawing 58 percent of the Latino vote (although she had a huge lead and it is early).
