As journalists from The Adelson News were in Oregon on Wednesday to accept an award for uncovering who owned their newspaper, the editor called a staff meeting to send a simple message: I'm the boss, and if you don't like it, you can quit.
Multiple sources confirmed that Review-Journal Editor Keith Moyer, who has yet to return my call and canceled an appearance this morning on KNPR, called the staff together for a 10:30 AM meeting. The meeting was called with almost no notice.
Several sources report the message was a simple one: "Lots of 'I'm your boss' and supposedly he told everyone to quit if they didn't like how things were."
This comes one day after longtime columnist John L. Smith resigned after Moyer tried to gag his coverage of Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn. Moyer's message, several sources report, in the light of the criticism for the move was an "all for one and one for all" theme, that everyone's and the paper's reputation was on the line. If the whole winning-a-Pulitzer thing doesn't work out, this guy has a guaranteed gig as a nightclub comic.
Moyer also again addressed his rage at reporter Pashtana Usufzy for recording his appearance at A PUBLIC MEETING on Saturday before a GROUP OF JOURNALISTS. My goodness.
And he told the reporters Wednesday, "Don't social media my meeting." Not to worry, Mr. Moyer. I got it covered.

"It's toxic in the newsroom," said one insider.
Sounds like a fun place to work.
