This page just went live, an attempt by the Culinary union to dissuade convention-goers for events scheduled at The Cosmopolitan. The page allows you to click on conventions to see when they are occurring at the resort where union picketers have been seen for months. And this page is live just a few days after workers opened the door for a strike on the Strip and/or downtown.
How active will Gondolier Numero Uno Sheldon Adelson be in state races this cycle? The biggest question mark is in the attorney general's race, where Adam Laxalt, a total unknown until recently but the grandson of the former senator, has declared his candidacy against Ross Miller, the secretary of state believed to be a future gubernatorial contender. I have thought that some Republicans, including some close to Adelson, have adopted a Stop Miller Now attitude and will use DC groups such as the...
Dean Heller spoke a lot last week in Nevada. That may have been a mistake. In the space of 24 hours, Heller revealed what few politicians want out there: He is reckless, uninformed and hypocritical. It was an amazing feat, really. The last name helps for Adam Laxalt. Interesting group -- see below -- first reported by Laura Myers of the RJ. Some controversial historical figures, too, including Reagan AG Ed Meese, ex-UN Ambassador John Bolton and, of course, CNN's Newt Gingrich. Note the DC lobbyists, including ex-Rep. Jon Porter, ex-AGA boss Frank Fahrenkopf, Laxalt's mother, his grandfather's firm and Sen. Dean Heller as a featured guest. If Laxalt is to be competitive in this race against Secretary of State Ross Miller...
Gov. Brian Sandoval is more likely to seek a judicial appointment than run against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, his good friend, Dean Heller, said Thursday. Seriously. It's one thing for pundits (guilty) to suggest Sandoval is more likely to seek a judicial or DC appointment than run against Reid. But Heller revealing private conversations with his pal? Amazing, as Steve Sebelius reported: He wouldn’t be surprised to see Sandoval return to the federal bench rather than run for higher...
