Attorney General Adam Laxalt will host a presidential candidates event in Northern Nevada this summer, with half a dozen White House hopefuls already confirmed.
Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, John Bolton (now out, but Laxalt used to work for him.), George Pataki and Ben Carson have RSVP'd, I'm told, while Jeb Bush said he has a scheduling conflict, and Rand Paul will be overseas.
The Aug. 15 event at the Corley Ranch in Gardnerville will be a Basque barbecue, an homage to the attorney general's grandfather, former Sen. Paul Laxalt, who once hosted such events across Nevada.
Laxalt recently formed a PAC, "Morning in Nevada" (another homage, this one to some guy who was a friend of his grandpas's), and will have state Sen. James Settelmeyer, the Douglas GOP and the Nevada Federation of Republican Women as co-hosts.
There will be no straw poll or debate, but each candidate will have a chance to address the crowd.
This is great for the state, of course (We Matter) and will only fuel speculation that Laxalt is restless in his AG's seat.
