Governor, senator and congressman join to anoint LG hopeful

UPDATE NO. 2, 8/14/13: So they sent out the notice again today, with this at the top: «Please note that due to an overwhelming response, the location in Red Rock Casino Hotel Spa has been changed to The Veranda."

I bet it's overwhelming. I think every Carson City lobbyist is on this list. And if they're not, they soon will be (Gov. Arm Twister and possibly returning senator Hutch will see to that).

Could this be the first million-dollar event for lieutenant governor in state annals? Don't bet against it.

The Sun's Anjeanette Damon pointed out on Twitter that a few more names have been added since I first posted this. I'm sure more will be appended before Sept. 4.

By the way, my favorite part of this pitch is that if you give $10,000, you can go to future Hutchison events for free. Such a deal!

Message to possible primary opponents: Stay out.

Message to Harry Reid: Sandoval will be free to run against you.

Message to Democrats: Game over.

UPDATE: This one's for you, Sue Lowden, one day after you floated your name for lieutenant governor.

In case you were wondering who is joining the governor, the senator and the congressman to back lieutenant governor hopeful Mark Hutchison, it's a pretty long list.

Lawyers, lobbyists, electeds, former electeds, Democrats. Oh my!

Doesn't hurt that Hutchison will be back in Carson City in the event the anointment goes awry.....

------

So. Rep. Joe Heck has joined Sen. Dean Heller and Gov. Brian Sandoval to try to clear the primary field for lieutenant governor hopeful Mark Hutchison, The Chosen One, to ensure the governor can do whatever he wants come 2016 without fear of leaving the state in the hands of an evil Democrat (redundancy alert).

But what if Heck wants to run against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2016 -- or for his seat if Reid retires?

And maybe Heller will want to come home and run for governor in 2018? That could complicate things.

But for now:
