UPDATE FROM METRO:
This morning at approximately 12:18 a.m. LVMPD Patrol Officers responded to the 6000 block of Tuttle River Avenue in Northwest Las Vegas (UPDATE: The Metro release had the address wrong: It's 6007 Turtle River Avenue in northeast LV) to investigate reports of a domestic battery.
Arriving officers encountered a male suspect, later identified as Nevada State Assemblyman Steven John Brooks, 40 years of age of Las Vegas, in the driveway of the residence. Brooks was agitated and refused to obey officers’ commands. When officers attempted to take Brooks into custody he fought with them, and at one point attempted to secure one of the officers weapons.
Brooks was subdued, and arrested for obstructing a police officer. When the investigation determined Brooks had physically attacked a family member he was additionally arrested for battery; domestic violence.
Brooks was transported to the Clark County Detention Center and booked. His booking photo accompanies this release.
