With Clark County knocking inactive voters off the rolls, the Democrats now have a 63,000-voter edge statewide over the GOP -- that's significant but 30,000 fewer than Election Day 2012 and about what the margin was on Election Day 2010. The Clark County cleanup resulted in about 29,000 Democrats being knocked off and about 15,000 Republicans -- the edge in Nevada's biggest county is now about 103,000 voters. Using the most current numbers in the other 16 counties, the overall statewide edge is...
So the Democrats have a candidate for that race, at least. Here's the flyer for Assemblywoman Lucy Flores' event two days before filing opens as she becomes Harry Reid's MOST IMPORTANT CANDIDATE:
As Democrats fret about their lack of a candidate in the state’s most important race, with Steve Sisolak’s inevitable decision not to run for governor, the question is: How did this happen? Let me rephrase: How did arguably the most formidable party apparatus in the country, the one that saved Harry Reid and propelled Barack Obama to two victories in Nevada, fail, especially since Gov. Brian Sandoval might challenge the majority leader in 2016? (I don’t think he will, but the pressure from the...
The scourge has come to Nevada and the two NRAs, neither of them guns, are aligned. A new radio ad paid for by the Nevada Resort Association and the Nevada Restauarant Association, is attached here. Big gamers, including MGM Resorts and Las Vegas Sands, have been sued by patent trolls, and many restaurants have been attacked in court for providing Wi-Fi through a router that has a broad use patent. The Main Street Patent Coalition, which has become active here, is also sponsoring ads in...
The state Republican Party, under the unswerving, steady hand of Michael McDonald, didn't endorse candidates Saturday in Fallon after saner heads prevailed over the crazies. But a nominating committee, which I have told you was a set-up to hurt incumbents and be a list for McDonald's Citizen Outreach destructive puppeteers, released its recommendations, which I have posted here. Needless to say, it's something else, including endorsement nods for those running against Assembly and Senate...
Welcome to the Weekly Report. This week's headlines: The budget of a broke state party, the endorsement nominating committee reveals itself, a political group headed by Gov. Brian Sandoval and Sen. Harry Reid (what?), gauging the possibility of a margin tax deal, CD3's new rating, the gun owners rise, smart/dumb moves.   THE PARTY OF FISCAL CONSERVATIVES CAN'T BALANCE ITS BUDGET   I have obtained the budget for the coming year for the state Republican Party -- a premium exclusive! -- and it is...
